Respect

Respect is important in this world because if no one showed respect, the world would be dirty, and everyone would be sad. Respect simply means taking care of the earth, environment and others. The sign for respect could be the peace sign or the white dove.

Some ways we can show respect are:
1. Pick up garbage, and put them in the garbage can.
2. Don’t pollute the environment.
3. Respect other people, or no put downs. (For example, if someone has glasses, and everyone is laughing, you should say “Do you want to be my friend?”, and not laugh at him/her.)

If no one showed respect, every one would be mean and selfish. If nobody in this world demonstrated respect, not only will the earth be polluted, the people on it unhappy, but also wars may start. In these wars many people get killed just because no one shows respect. I think respect is a very important trait, because we need our earth to live, and if we don’t protect it, we may die.

Respect is really important, so I hope from this essay you will understand how important respect is, and how much we need it to survive.

Day 1 - Our Hotel and more...

We just got here, to our hotel. I took a bath and now I am at the desk working. Our hotel is comfort enough, after all that riding in the clouds. The living room has a sofa, two lamps, a huge foot rest and a carpet. The bedroom had two beds, an alarm clock, lights, a night table, a telephone and two lamps. It also has a huge pretty view of Orlando - wait, I have to brush my teeth - OK, I am back - Outside Hyatt Place, or where we are staying, there is a few palm trees, some cars and all that.

It really took us long to fly here. When I got into the airplane, I kept asking how long it'd take us to get here. After I stopped, the staff handed out drinks and snacks. It took us a really long time to get here from Buffalo, around two hours and thirty minutes. I could barely walk to our rental car after that. Can't wait till tomorrow - We're going to Disney World!

Michael Wade visit our class

About Michael Wade

Today Michael Wade came to our school to talk about himself and his books. He asked us what we thought an author actually looked like. We answered: an old man with glasses, brown hair, weak etc. Then he showed us some words he had learned with his Grade 1 teacher, and even though his grades were really below average, he became a writer anyway. He is also a prison guard full time. He later told us about some funny happenings, and had 4 people came up to the front to answer funny questions about their “dog” (later he changed it to “dad”, which made it really funny.)

Favorite and Funny Stuff

It was really funny after he changed the “dog” to “dad”, he read the answers again, and the end part said that their dad’s favorite place to go to the bathroom was the living room carpet!!! Then he read us a rough copy of an unfinished story about Gordon. Gordon plays a prank on the teachers on April Fools day, by pretending to spill his lunch but fails, because the teachers heard him. On the day of his plan, they do “mouth-to-mouth” to him and call an ambulance. The other one was a draft, in which Gordon plays a prank on the parents and teachers on a field trip. He wants to block the washroom so they can’t get in. Unfortunately for him, he ruins his cloth and has to change. So he buys a pair of sweat pants and it turns out to be a T-shirt, which was real bad – he already threw away the dirty stuff. In case you want to know more about the funny happenings, they are when Michael put a “Women” sign on the Men’s, and “Men” on Women’s; and when he put a “Speaker Broke, Please Shout” sign on the speaker of a brand new drive-thru.

What I learned

Michael Wade inspired me to be a writer because he said that no one has to be special to be a writer. I used to like writing stories, but they weren’t really funny. Now I know that if I think harder, I’ll be able to make my writing better, like what Michael Wade did with the dog stories. This was such a great presentation!

Moving to a new home

I'm so excited about moving to our new home! There will be a full-screen movie theatre in the basement, four bath rooms and four big bedrooms upstairs so that I could play hide-and-seek and have a sleepover with Eva in my room.

I will go to our new home by car. My new home is in Markham. My new school will be Castlemore public school. I am going to move on Nov 29, 2006.

St. Lawrence Market

Toda our class went to the St. Lawrenece Market. We went with Mr. Mani's class. We both got there by school bus. on the way to the market, I saw the CN Tower and Lake Ontario. It was so exciting.

Finally we got to the St. Lawrence Market and met Ann. she led us into a room, where we put down our lunches, took off our jackets ans then waited at tables to receive instructions. Later we went for a tour aroud St. Lawrence Market. We saw St. James Cathdreal and the restruant which used to be a courthouse a long time ago.

After lunch we played for very, very long time. Then we went with Ann upstairs to learn about histrioctal Toronto. Later we made our own maps, even though we didn't finish them. Soon both of the grade 3 classes went on the school bus to go back to our school. I had an amazing day!

Nov. 14, 2006.

Science Center

On Thursday, July 27, 2006. I went to the Ontario Science Centre. I went with Eva, her mother and her sister. We went there by van. At the science Centre, there were lots of games, such as: a castle playground, a foos resturant. My favourite game was a building place, even though I never built anything. Me and everybody else watched a 3D movie about bugs. We also watched another movie about insects and something else, but I forgot. I also ate hard chedder cheese worms. They taste so so so good! I even tugged ib ropes. There was even a pretend fish pond! A special cave which changed colours. It was so cool because when a faint red light shows up on a red button, you press it and it takes a picture of your shadow. Then your shadow stays there and it doesn't follow you out of the shadow cave. There, at the science centre, were models. There was also thick black stripes which move, and when you look through them, it looks cool because there are mixed colours. There was also buttons inside somewhere when you pressed a certain button, it would make the whole room in different mixed colours. There's also a stick and a drum and something else that makes nice music. The End

Desert Passage in Las Vegas

My dad took this picture while walking through Desert Passage in Las Vegas. I excitedly glimpsed at a cute little puppy. I took it out and held it for a few seconds. I also took out a very cute little kitten.

On the ceiling of Desert Passage, there was pretend sky wallpaper, and it looks so life-like. There were life-like clouds, and blue sky for the background. It was a beautiful sight.

My day at the carinval

Today I went to the carnival. It was at Oriole community centre. I played a bowling game, a game of relay, and a card game and more. My favourite game was a hoola hoop contest, because I won the game and it was fun. Me and my partener went to the tatoo station and got tatoos on our shoulders. My tatoo was a rose. My partener was flowers plus some fancy decorations. I chose my partener's tatoo. We also went to a station where you could write letters. My partenter didn't write anything, but I did. I wrote it to my friend Kelly. This is what I wrote:
"Dear Kelly, I hope you are having a good time." I also went to a facing painting station, and got a blue diamond painted on my face. My partener got a red heart painted on her face. I also got three tickets at first, then I got one extra ticket for playing the relay game. Then I tried out the bowling game, and I got another ticket. I exchanged all my tickets for a cool prize. My partener got a 'My Little Pony' toy. It wasn't just a regular one, it was a unicorn, including a comb. It took a long time for me to get my toy, which was a sticky thingy, and my partener only took a few seconds to get her toy. Then we sat down and showed other people our toys. Later, we walked back to Don Valley camp.

Doris was in Las Vegas

On April 6th, me and my family went to the airport to take an airplane to go to Las Vegas. We also went Zion Park and Bryce Canyon. We went to Vegas because I wanted to.

When my mom asked me if I want to go to Las Vegas, I nodded. I think the best place in our trip was Las Vegas, because my family got to go to two hotels!!! I also think Las Vegas was the best place because we went to shows and exciting places, such as going to see a volcano erupt, seeing a magic fountain sing, and going to CIRCUS CIRCUS. And we also went to a pirate show. Inside CIRCUS CIRCUS there was the Adventuredome. -APRIL 12TH 2006
